Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Didon. If you have other questions, feel free to reach out.
Didon captures a screenshot of your screen every 30 seconds while monitoring is active. Each screenshot is analyzed on your Mac by local AI — nothing is sent to the cloud. The AI reads window titles, visible text, and on-screen context to understand what you're doing.
In the Configuration tab, enter your active projects as comma-separated names (for example: "Acme Website, Client App, Didon"). When Didon analyzes your screen, it matches what it sees — file names, project names in visible text, and browser tab titles — against your list. Work that doesn't match is labeled "Other."
Open the Report tab in Didon to see statistics about your workday — time by project, category breakdowns, and trends. Didon also saves daily exports locally at ~/Documents/Didon/: detailed work logs in WorkLogs/YYYY-MM-DD.csv and summary reports in Daily-Reports.csv. Review these files to see how much you actually worked and what you focused on in previous days.
Didon uses very little resources when idle. During each 30-second analysis cycle, the local AI model loads briefly and uses around 2 GB of RAM. After each analysis, the model unloads to keep memory stable over long sessions.
To ensure the AI accurately categorizes your work, make sure to name your files and projects descriptively. Avoid using generic names like "Untitled" or "New Project" so the AI can provide better insights into your daily activity.
Once you start monitoring, Didon runs quietly in the background. Every 30 seconds it captures a screenshot and analyzes it with local AI on your Mac. You don't need to press start or stop for each task — the app infers what you're working on from your active windows and on-screen context.
Yes, privacy is our top priority. All screen analysis and data processing happen locally on your computer. Your sensitive data and screenshots never leave your machine or touch our servers.
All screenshots are processed locally on your Mac using on-device AI. The raw images are analyzed on your machine and are not uploaded to our servers. Activity summaries and work logs are saved locally in ~/Documents/Didon/. You control what gets shared — managers and third parties never see your activity unless you export and send it yourself.
Didon's AI runs entirely on your Mac. Screenshots are analyzed locally and are not sent to the internet or stored on a server. Your screen activity stays on your device.
Currently, the app is only available for Mac (Apple Silicon, M1+). We are working on a Windows version — join the waitlist to get early access when it launches!
Absolutely. Didon automatically saves daily work logs to ~/Documents/Didon/WorkLogs/ and summary reports to ~/Documents/Didon/Daily-Reports.csv. You can also export reports from the app as CSV — perfect for client billing, internal reporting, or personal productivity analysis.
The app features "Auto-Pause on Sleep" and intelligently detects inactivity. It only tracks your actual productive time, ensuring your logs are accurate without manual intervention.
We offer refunds in cases of installation errors or if the software fails to work as expected on your supported system. Please reach out to our support if you encounter any technical issues.
Clockify requires you to start and stop timers manually for every task. RescueTime tracks which apps you use but doesn't understand what you're doing in them. Didon captures activity automatically and uses AI to tag tasks to the right project or client — no timers, no manual categories. You get billable-ready reports without lifting a finger.
Not yet. Right now, Didon works as a standalone app. You can export reports as plain text, CSV, or JSON and import them into your invoicing or project management system. Native integrations with tools like Jira, Asana, and Linear are on the roadmap.
Didon achieves over 95% accuracy on routine tasks by analyzing screenshots and app activity in real time. Manual logs are prone to memory errors — studies show they average 80–85% accuracy because people forget details or reconstruct events hours later. Didon logs what actually happened, not what you think happened.
Didon generates structured, timestamped reports that include task descriptions, project tags, and hours worked. You can export these reports and import them into your invoicing tool. Direct invoicing features — like rate calculations and PDF generation — are planned for a future release.
Yes. You can try Didon free for 14 days. No credit card required. Download it, let it run for a few days, and see your first automated reports. If it doesn't save you time, delete it. No risk.
If you prefer manual control, you can disable AI tagging in Didon's settings and assign projects yourself. Didon will still capture your activity automatically — you'll just review and categorize it at the end of the day instead of letting the AI do it. You can also export raw activity logs and process them however you like. Or stick with a traditional time tracker like Clockify or Toggl if you want full manual control from the start.
Didon works completely offline. Since all AI analysis happens locally on your Mac, you don't need an internet connection to track time. You only need to be online to activate your license or use website features like account management.
The AI reads application names, window titles, and visible text to understand context. It categorizes work based on patterns and your configured categories in the Configuration tab. You can also review the locally saved time logs yourself or with the help of other AI models.
Absolutely. Freelancers use Didon to track billable hours without manual timers. Small teams use it to understand workload distribution and identify bottlenecks. The privacy-first approach means no one feels surveilled — just informed.
